A Simple Thank You

Hi everyone!  I hope you're having a beautiful day, wherever you are.  It's quickly turning into Summer in my part of the world.  We've been having lots of thunderstorms, and the temperatures have been steadily climbing.

The Card A Day Blog is having a week of "Thank You" inspiration, so that is what I've brought you today.  I have one more offering from the 'special guest designer' (you know, the one who shall remain nameless) I am featuring.  This card started with a piece of design paper from K & Company, a mat from (I think) Stampin' Up and a white base card from Georgia Pacific.

The dp was cut with a circle die leaving just a small opening at the edge.  The mat was cut with a slightly smaller circle to create a nice frame for the sentiment.  The sentiment, itself, is also a die cut.

Before the matted dp was affixed to the base a nice piece of twine was wrapped around the side, and a bow was tied.  I just love the look of the rustic twine.  Once the mat was attached and the sentiment added, a few gems were affixed to add just a bit of sparkle.  AND THAT'S IT!!  Very quick - no stamping, no clean-up and a really pretty look.  Let me know if you try this design; I'd love to see how you adapt it.

As for the details.....
Design Paper:  K&Co Susan Winget Nature Designer Mat Pad
Die:  Provo Craft Cuttlebug Thanks, Spellbinders Circles
Gems:  Shabby Chic Treasures Rhinestone Accents

I'll be back with you soon with several cards I am making for the Crafter's Digital Art Center Challenges.  We have several challenges continuing until the end of June.  You receive a free digi image just for entering a challenge.  No reason not to click on over and take a look.

birthday wishes

I'd like to start my post today with condolences for the victims of the deadly storms of the past few days.  We must never take for granted our loved ones and all the wonderful things life has brought to us.  Blessings and prayers to all those who are suffering.

Todays card is for the theme of 'Birthday' at the Card A Day Blog.  My card is brought to you by a very special guest designer who has asked to remain nameless.  So I can't tell you her name, but my dear sister is visiting me this week, and many of you know that she is also a cardmaker.  I couldn't resist bringing you one of her cards!  Here is your first look:

You know how my sister and I are always trying to get creative with our scraps.  Well, this is another one of those creations.  It started out with a white base, which was a leftover just waiting for a project.  All the pink pieces were taken from my 'pinks' scrap envelope.  They were simply cut to pleasing sizes and set slightly askew for interest.  The cute flower is a die cut, and the sentiment was stamped on another pink scrap.  Here is a closer view of the central section of the card:

As you can see, some pearls of varying sizes were added for a little accent.  The flower and the sentiment were affixed with foam tape.  I've got an angled shot for you to see the dimension.

So that's it, really quick and easy.  I think the real fun, once you choose a color theme, is in choosing different pattern papers and just cutting and placing them in a pleasing arrangement.  Then all you need is a cute element and a sentiment and you're done.

Here's the fine print:
Papers:  sorry, don't really know, they're scraps, but the card base is probably Georgia Pacific
Stamp:  Gina K. Designs 'Nature's Greetings' set
          Die:  Sizzix Sizzlits
          Pearls:  KaiserCraft self-adhesive
          Ink:  Versafine black

That's it.  I hope you all have a great day!  Stay safe.

Big HUGS,
CHRISTINE

For DAD

Happy Monday Everybody!!  Thanks so much for checking in with me.  I have a cute card for you today to help inspire you in your card making for Father's Day.  That's this week's theme at the Card A Day Blog.  If you're not familiar with the CADB, we have a new card to inspire you every day, we have a new theme each week, and we have challenge prizes every month.  So I hope you'll consider joining us in the fun.  We love seeing what you create.

Now for my card.  I've been accumulating a few rolls of washi tape, and decided it was about time to start using some of them.  I chose a color scheme, and went about finding all the elements I would need.  I started with the washi.  I have a pack with blue and green rolls (four of each in all different designs) and decided to use the tape on a white background to really show off the colors.  Using five rolls of the tape, I created my own striped designer paper.

I added a matching piece of pleated ribbon, a die-cut tag for the sentiment, and the word "dad" in holographic glittered chip board letters.  The ribbon is very dimensional, as are the letters, so I added a little more dimension by affixing the card layer and the tag with foam tape.

Since I used a darker card base, I decided to add an inside mat for the sentiment and signature.  I used more strips of the washi to coordinate nicely with the front of the card.  For a little variety I tore the inside tape unevenly instead of cutting it neatly as I did on the front.

I think my two sentiments work nicely together even though they are from two different sets and two different companies.  I love it when things work out that way.  Don't you?

Your final view is a straight on front photo.  I think this one is the most authentic in color and brightness, although the blue is closer to a true navy in person.

Here are some of the details:
Gina K Designs - outside greeting
Stampin' Up - inside sentiment, card base, ink and ribbon
          American Crafts Thickers - letters
My Mind's Eye - decorative tape (washi)
          Spellbinders - tag die

That's it for now.  I hope you are having a wonderful day in your corner of the world.

An Expression of Sympathy

No need to be alarmed by my title.  I just have a card for you.  So happy to have you join me today.  My card is for the 'Sympathy' theme week over at the Card A Day Blog and then it's going into my card box for later use.  It was somewhat of a quickie to make as I had decided to use pieces from a small pile of scraps I hadn't yet filed away.  So, without delay, here is my card:

Okay, let's see if I can remember any of the details.....Most of the cuts and papers were left over from a decorative box I made which you can see here .  Even the 5 1/2x4 1/4 card base came from those leftovers.  The doily was a half piece that I had saved from something - don't remember what it was.  The large flower piece was an extra cut that I had made for a wedding card, and the small flower is a plastic button with the shank cut off that was left from some 'recycled bottle' bracelets I was helping some Girl Scouts make.

The sentiment strip is a small scrap of handmade paper, purchased not made by me.  And the sentiment, itself, was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed using  Sweet Stamps 'Fine Detail Copper' embossing powder.  The stamp is from Hero Arts set C1342.  Sorry, but I don't have a name.

The side frame pieces were affixed using Tombow Mono, but the other pieces were layered using foam tape or Scotch Quick Drying Tacky Glue.

Well, I said it was a quickie, didn't I?!  Nope, I haven't even finished the inside; saving that for when the card will be used.

I hope you've had a sweet, though short, visit today.  Come back and see me again soon!!

Big THANKS and even bigger HUGS,
CHRISTINE
